SLU-PP-332 activates the estrogen-related receptors ERR-alpha, ERR-beta, and ERR-gamma, transcription factors that control the gene program normally induced by endurance exercise.

In mouse studies from Saint Louis University researchers, the compound increased oxidative muscle fibers, mitochondrial respiration, and fatty acid oxidation while enhancing running endurance and reducing fat mass accumulation.
